Returns

Thirty days to change your mind — and separately, the rights the law gives you.

Our 30-day returns policy

If you change your mind, you can return anything you've bought from us within 30 days of delivery for a refund. This is our own policy, offered on top of your legal rights, and it is more generous than the law requires.

To use it, the item needs to be:

  • Unused and in the condition you received it
  • Complete, with any accessories, manuals and free items that came with it
  • In its original packaging where possible — although a damaged box won't stop us accepting a return, and on lines we've sold as “damaged box” it clearly isn't the point

Who pays the postage

If you are returning something because you have changed your mind, you pay the return postage. We recommend a tracked service, because until it reaches us it is still your parcel.

If the item is faulty, damaged in transit, or not as we described it, we pay. Get in touch before sending anything back and we will cover the cost of returning it.

What we cannot take back

Two things are outside our 30-day policy, on top of the statutory exclusions further down this page:

  • Sealed hygiene and personal care items where the seal has been broken. Sealed and unopened, they are fine.
  • Short-dated food and consumables. These are sold close to their best-before date and priced accordingly, so there isn't the shelf life to resell them.

None of this affects your legal rights if something is faulty — see below.

Start by contacting us. Email sales@clearancedepot.co.uk or call 01206 804101 with your order number, and we'll confirm how to send it back before you post anything. That way nothing goes astray and we know to expect it.

Your right to cancel

This is a legal right, not our policy

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you may cancel most online orders within 14 days without giving any reason. This right exists independently of our 30-day policy above, and nothing on this page reduces it.

How it works:

  • You have 14 days from the day after you receive the goods to tell us you're cancelling. If your order arrives in more than one parcel, the 14 days run from the day after the last one.
  • Tell us in any clear statement — email, letter or a phone call is fine. Simply sending the goods back without telling us is not enough.
  • Once you've told us, you have a further 14 days to send the goods back.
  • We'll refund you within 14 days of receiving the goods back, or of you showing us evidence you've sent them, whichever is sooner.
  • The refund includes the standard delivery charge you originally paid. If you chose a more expensive delivery option than our standard one, we refund the standard cost.
  • We may reduce your refund to reflect any loss in value if you've handled the goods more than you would in a shop.

A few things are excluded from this right by the Regulations themselves — for example goods made or personalised to your specification, and sealed goods that aren't suitable for return for health or hygiene reasons once they've been unsealed. Where an exclusion applies to something you've bought, we'll say so on the product page.

To cancel, contact us on sales@clearancedepot.co.uk, 01206 804101, or by post at Mitch Distribution Ltd, Unit 4, Church Farm, Hoxne Road, Eye, Suffolk IP23 7NJ.

Model cancellation form

You don't have to use this — any clear statement will do — but the Regulations require us to make it available, so here it is. Copy it into an email or post it to us.

To Mitch Distribution Ltd trading as Clearance Depot, Unit 4, Church Farm, Hoxne Road, Eye, Suffolk IP23 7NJ, sales@clearancedepot.co.uk:

If something is faulty or not as described

Also a legal right, and a different one again

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If they aren't, you can reject them and get a full refund within 30 days of receiving them. This is separate from both our returns policy and your right to cancel, and it applies even if you've used the item.

After those 30 days, you're entitled to ask us to repair or replace the item. If that isn't possible or doesn't fix the problem, you can claim a price reduction or a refund.

Where we've described a fault, that isn't a fault. Some of what we sell is flagged on the product page as damaged box, open box or short dated, and the price reflects it. Buying one of those doesn't stop you returning it under our 30-day policy or cancelling within 14 days — but the condition we described isn't a defect you can reject it for. If it arrives in a worse state than we described, that plainly is, so tell us.

Nothing on this page affects your statutory rights.

Short-dated goods

Some lines are sold close to their best-before date and are labelled short dated on the product page. Best-before is a quality date, not a safety date, and stock is always in date when it leaves us. These are still covered by everything above.
